THE NEW BICYCLE RACE GAME
U.K., 1900s

Early unbranded English (well, at least I bought it in England) game. It might be a XIXth century game or very early XXth century. Hard to tell, since I just have the board. No riders, no rules. Any piece of information welcome.

The board measures 61 x 30.5 cm

Definitely NOT a modern retro game

UPDATE 2024: Siegfried L. has found a luxury version of this game in the Richard Ballam collection (that moved to the Oxford University). That game is described as being in the "style of Spear". Though this is not too precise a description, if you compare it with this horse racing game in the same collection, it may make some sense.

By the way, Siegfried thinks that the thicker lines on the boards may indicate obstacles similar to those seen in the luxury version (though there are nine here instead of only five), bringing back memories of earlier steeplechase games. He may have a point. Thanks, Siegfried, for sharing your thoughts.
