SIMPLEX SPEL
Daan Hoeksema / Simplex Fabrieken, Netherlands, ca 1930
This is a promotional Dutch cycling-themed game of goose, made around 1930 for the Simplex company. The game is illustrated by the classic Dutch cartoonist Daan Hoeksema (1879-1935).
The board is quite big (68 x 51 cm) and I have to keep it in a roll. As you can see, I had to put weights in the corners to take the pictures.
The price of the game was of f. 0.25, with two dice. Fred Horn, of the Flemish Games Archives in Brugge, was able to find the original dice, one of which has the word "Simplex" instead of the number 6. Such a throw is worth 7 (if my Dutch is not too bad). You can see a picture of Fred's dice in the GiochiDell'Oca and the HONGS websites.
Delightful drawings by Daan Hoeksema
Thanks for the tip, Laisvydas!
