There has always been a great tradition that comics in Britain bring out Christmas Annuals every year. The Boy's Own Paper was no exception. And they frequently included simple games, two or three if you were lucky. The 1964 annual of Boy's Own Paper had this cycle racing game at the back of the book. It is a Game of Goose type game, the authors freely admit that "the rules to all dice games are too common to repeat" !
 

However, it is a nice unusual game, where riders nor only have to endure heavy rain and strong winds but may also feel an "irresistible urge to see Roman ruins".
