TRITIME
Claus Werner / Des-Kom, Germany, 1994

Here is a triathlon game from François Cardinet's collection. It is a game that will appeal to (and probably only to) triathlon fans. As can be expected, the race is divided into three parts: swimming, cycling, and running. However, the rules are almost identical for the three events, the only difference being that each event has its own action cards.
As far as I know, this is the only game made by its author and the only game released by Des-Kom, so I can safely include it in the self-published games list.
The board has an unusual shape. It measures 56 cm from the long side to the opposite short side. To fit in the 43 x 30 x 5 cm box, the board is made of four separate cardboard pieces. On the short sides, besides the start/finish area, you have two transition zones, where you swap the cardboard figure you are playing with.

A swimmer, a cyclist, a runner.
The game is basically played with dice. Each player receives three dice: a slower yellow die, a medium-speed blue die, and a faster red die. A die is used until the player lands on a coloured field, where he has to change to the die of the same colour. If a player throws a triangle, he must perform a physical exercise decided by the other players or else miss a turn. You have to be fit to play this game, or maybe it is playing this game that keeps you fit.
Besides, there are spaces where you draw an action card and spaces where you pick an energy card, which you save for later and will allow you to double the value of the die roll in certain circumstances.
Up to six players can take part in the race. Here they have reached the cycling part.

Besides, we have the usual action and energy cards. Each section of the rest has its own set of action cards.

A selection of cycling action cards. The game is language-dependent.

All energy cards are identical: you eat a banana to get extra energy!
Thanks, Mathilde, for gifting me your father's collection of cycling games.
