SHAPED PUZZLES
This bycycle-shaped puzzle was a present from Bruce Whitehill when he visited the vintage cycling board games exhibition at Figueres in spring 2025.
Of course the goal of the game is to free the ring.
Yes, this ring!
The secret is that both sides of the bicycle are different. You can turn and turn the bicycle (which is more disorienting that one would think beforehand) until you find the way out.
Just to prove it can be done ;-)
Bicycle-shaped puzzles have been around for quite a
while. Here are a couple of found pictures of early French examples from around
1900-1910.
The one on the left was made by Mauclair Dacier, the one on the right by JFL.
